Cream of Crab Soup
The Cream of Crab soup is simply fresh cream and lump crabmeat, available in both cup and bowl sizes. There was a longer wait than expected for this soup, despite the restaurant not being overly busy, which one can assume that the soup was being made to order.
The flavor of the broth results in a light cream flavor with a light hint of sherry. There is a real sweetness to the crab, which one hopes to find in a Maryland seafood restaurant. The light dusting of Old Bay on top gives some spice, but not too much to interfere with the other flavors. Crab is the highlight of the soup, as it should be. Oyster crackers served along with the soup are unsalted and do add some crunch texture to the soup, but otherwise muddle the flavor. We would recommend to leave those alone and eat them separately. Overall, the soup has a really good flavor and is certainly recommended if you find yourself dining here, but doesn't seem to be as spectacular as the version they were serving at the 2011 Crab Soup Cook-Off. But don't let that little niggle hold you back from enjoying some truly flavorful soup.
